This year, Slack Farm will be celebrating its 168th year of farming by the same family. Currently, Mr. Slack farms 80 acres in hay, corn, and straw. His daughter Brenda is the next generation to work the land. She established the Milk House Farm Market in 2007 and is taking the farm in a new direction -- poultry and vegetable production. She is in the process of transitioning the farm from conventional to organic production and is the first generation to sell directly to the public on the farm. The market is housed in the old Milk House of the dairy barn, as the farm had been a dairy from 1850 to 1988.
